Nine years on, 16-year-old Andrey is unrecognisable. With 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, Andrey shares video of his fishing and sailing adventures, as well as archive footage of his childhood weight competitions. The Ukrainian teen reportedly started gymnastics, martial arts, flexibility and strength training when he was just five – and he was lifting weights by the time he was eight. After setting the world record in 2012, Andrey, who is also an actor and model, was pictured posing happily with his certificate. He was monitored by judges from Ukrainian Book of Records to ensure his successful attempt complied with official rules. He gradually built up his strength, but after 12 months he was able do 3,000 push-ups. Nowadays, Andrey enjoys travelling and playing other sports – and doesn’t appear to be as dedicated to bodybuilding as he once was. His YouTube channel states: “The official channel is dedicated to sports (bodybuilding, power lifting, street workout, karate, artistic gymnastics) and the creative achievements of Kostash Andrey, fun travels around the world, entertainment and hobbies. “The channel has a lot of interesting videos about Andrey’s daily life, about training at home and competitions in various sports, filming in television and film projects, about social and charitable events that Andrey organizes and participates in.” Another teen bodybuilder who went viral after crushing weights in the gym is also unrecognisable in Instagram pictures five years on. Tristyn Lee became famous when followers began noticing his gladiator-like physique in videos he uploaded online. The youngster had hoped the clips of him showing off his impressive football skills at 15 would get the attention of scouters. Instead, he was flooded with comments about becoming a professional bodybuilder and has since built quite a presence on Instagram where he’s amassed some 2 million followers. The American teen has even posted workouts with some big names in the bodybuilding industry such as Bradley Martyn, Simeon Panda and Larry Wheels. Five years on and Lee looks almost unrecognisable.
