A young woman who was “repeatedly raped” by a man was rescued after she managed to throw handwritten notes to a neighbour through a window, police said. The woman was held against her will for six days in a house in northwest Pontevedra, where she was repeatedly sexually abused, O Porriño local police and agents of the Civil Guard said. The City Council is quoted by Atlantico as saying: “Given these facts, the agents chose to ring the bell without receiving a response, but the woman had already warned that if the alleged aggressor became aware of the police presence, he would kill her. “Given the potential commission of a flagrant crime, they chose to use force and break the door down.” Inside, officers found the alleged aggressor sleeping in a bed as well as the suspected victim, in a state of shock. The suspect, identified only as M.F.R, 26, is a local resident and was arrested for illegal detention, injuries and sexual assault. The victim and the suspect knew each other, according to sources close to the investigation. According to the same sources, the pair had been in a relationship previously, and had met up again when the young woman demanded an outstanding sum from the alleged aggressor. When she went over to collect her money on July 19, the suspect allegedly did not let her leave. The alleged victim’s family had reported her disappearance after several days. She was transported to Álvaro Cunqueiro hospital in Vigo, where she was examined by a forensic doctor. The accused appeared in court today, El Diario reported, where the judge of the Court of Instruction slapped him with provisional jail without bail. El Diario has now reported that the suspect was wanted for similar offences – and was in breach of a sentence. The man is accused of sequestering another victim a month earlier in the neighbouring city of Ponteareas. The suspect faces penalties ranging between 15 and 20 years in prison for the alleged crimes.
