This comes after the Federal Reserve raised its interest rates by half a percentage point, the highest spike since 2000. During a May 4, 2022 press conference following the increase, Mr. Powell began a speech by addressing the American people who will be affected by the Fed’s attempts to lower inflation, without pushing us into a recession.
