RUSSIA has jailed its first soldier for refusing to fight in the invasion of Ukraine. Alexei Breusov was convicted by a military court for disobeying a wartime law brought in by Vladimir Putin in September. The hearing heard how Breusov was unwilling to take part in “hostilities” and refused his commanding officer’s “order to deploy”. He was sentenced to a year and eight months in an open prison, Kam 24 reports. It comes after more than 100,000 Russian troops have been killed in the conflict since February, according to Ukraine.
