THE US defence department launched an investigation to find out who’s responsible for the leaking of documents which show how the UK and other Nato allies plan to help Ukraine in a new offensive against Russia. US news outlets such as The New York Times and Wall Street Journal reported that some of the parts have been “modified” or “photoshopped” in an attempt by Moscow to spread disinformation or propaganda. Ukrainian presidential official Mykhailo Podolyak said that the leak contained a “very large amount of fictitious information,” and it looks like a Russian disinformation operation. The documents included how Western allies are planning to help Ukraine build up their military formations for an offensive against Vladimir Putin‘s troops. The plans dated late February or early March were marked “top secret” or “secret,” however, no specifications about Ukraine‘s spring counteroffensive were included.
