THE UK has warned China not to support Vladimir Putin’s “brutal and illegal” war in Ukraine as the US pledged military aid today. The Prime Minister’s official spokesman was pressed on US intelligence assessments indicating Beijing was considering providing arms and ammunition to support the Kremlin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. The spokesman said: “On this specific issue, any support for Putin’s brutal and illegal war against Ukraine is deplorable. We expect China to stand up for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” It comes as US President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv this morning to meet with Voldoymyr Zelenksy – the first visit to the war-torn country since the Ukraine war broke out in February. Speaking in the House of Commons today, Boris Johnson called for swifter aid to be given to Ukraine as he said: “The Ukrainians are not just fighting for their freedom, but for the cause of freedom around the world. We should give them what they need not next month, not next year, but now.” Read our Ukraine war blog below for the latest news…
