A RUSSIAN religious leader has called for a ceasefire to the war in Ukraine as Vladimir Putin’s losses near 110,000 following significant losses this week. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, has called for a pause in hostilities in Ukraine tomorrow. “I, Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, appeal to all the parties involved in the internecine conflict to cease fire and establish a Christmas truce from 12:00 on January 6 until 24:00 on January 7 so that Orthodox people can attend services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” he said. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas later than other denominations, with much of Ukraine and Russia’s Christmas taking place tomorrow and Saturday.
