Ukraine news latest — Putin aims to bolster troops by adjusting conscription age as Wagner recruites new fighters

RUSSIAN DUMA deputies have presented a bill that would see conscription age in Russia adjusted from men aged 21-30 years to men aged 18-27 years. It comes as reports suggest that Russia is struggling with soldier numbers as Ukraine continues to defend itself in a bid to defeat Vladimir Putin‘s aggression. The UK’s Ministry of Defence believes that “the law is likely to be passed and would come into force in January 2024.” Meanwhile, Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that the mercenary group plans to recruit around 30,000 fighters until May through its centres in 42 Russian cities.
