ONE mother from the war torn city detailed how she could not drag her children out of their hiding places, they were frozen with terror. In Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainians are “frightened” for their lives, as Russian military forces continue to send a barrage of rocket strikes to the city. “My children were frightened. The windows blew out. My daughter got so frightened she hid in a corner and I couldn’t drag her out. I told her, please come to me and she said: ‘No mother, I’m scared,” Olha Chobotariova, told the BBC. Elderly people were stuck in one of the buildings that was destroyed in the strikes, tells one resident, Alla Yermachenko, who told the publication: “There’s very little hope that they’re alive. Why are they doing this to us? What are they trying to prove? Killing old people. Why? For what?” Dictator Vladimir Putin declared Zaporizhzhia annexed last week, however the region remains war torn, as Ukrainian fighters advance further into Kherson, in attempts to emancipate Ukrainians from Russia’s grip.
