After several US states enacted at least partial bans on the use of the short-form video app TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, on government smartphones, tablet PCs, and laptops, the Senate passed the No TikTok on Government Devices Act on December 14 to ban the app, citing national security concerns.
