A TEENAGE girl has died after being mauled by a shark while swimming in a river in Australia. The 16-year-old is reported to have been bitten on the leg after rope swinging into the Swan River in North Fremantle. Her boyfriend desperate tried to save her as he pulled her onto the bank after the savage attack. It is believed the beast that attacked her was a bull shark – a breed which can often be found in rivers in Australia. Cops and paramedics rushed to the scene at around 3.30pm local time. They attempted to save the girl – but she was later reportedly confirmed dead. The type of the shark involved in the attack has not yet been confirmed. They Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development on Saturday afternoon confirmed they were probing a “shark incident”.
