SOUTH Korea scrambled fighter jets after a group of North Korean planes flew close to the border and Kim Jong-un fired a ballistic missile. Around ten North Korean military aircrafts were detected close to the border of the two states as tensions boil over amid the tyrant’s repeated missile tests. The latest in a series of launches was announced shortly after the military said it raced fighter jets into the air after Kim’s aircrafts were seen nearby. Japan’s coastguard issued an alert telling ships to “not approach falling objects” and report information to authorities. A statement on North Korea’s official KCNA news agency quoted the North Korean military as saying it took “strong military countermeasures” after South Korean artillery fire. It said the aircraft were also seen near the eastern part of the inter-Korean border. Meanwhile, Kim fired two more missiles in a “clear warning to enemies” on Wednesday as North Korea continues to flex its military muscle. Kim said the test fire should be seen as another “clear warning to enemies”, state media reported. The despot added that the country “should continue to expand the operational sphere of the nuclear strategic armed forces to resolutely deter any crucial military crisis and war crisis at any time and completely take the initiative in it,” according to Korea Central News Agency (KCNA). The two missiles flew for 10,234 seconds to “clearly hit the target 2,000km away”, KCNA added. Days before, North Korea fired a further two short-range ballistic missiles towards Japan. The South Korean military dubbed the launches a “serious provocation” that harms peace. Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida issued an “emergency alert,” warning its citizens to “take all possible measures for precaution”.
