South Africa's Parliament Votes to Downgrade Diplomatic Ties With Israel

Since the toppling of the apartheid regime in 1994, bilateral relations between the two countries have been complicated due to South Africa's support for the Palestinians. In May 2018, the country recalled its ambassador to Israel. Since then, the embassy has been headed by a charge d’affaires.
