A MAN has drowned after diving into Italy’s Lake Garda – the sixth person to die there in the space of a month. The 42-year-old Polish man went swimming at the popular Italian beach at Desenzanino, but after they failed to surface their friend alerted the coastguard. The Leicestershire sales director, 51, had hired a boat with his wife and two children on the lake on Monday. They were around 500m from the shore when Chada’s 14-year-old son got into trouble. Chada dived in and managed to save his child, but got into trouble in the process and slipped beneath the water. A coastguard spokesman said: “The man dived to save his eldest son who was in trouble and managed to push him back to the boat but then he got into trouble. “It was very hot on Friday afternoon, but the water was 10 degrees colder, so it’s possible he had a seizure from the shock.” Another tourist is missing after jumping off a pedal boat into Lake Garda at the end of June.
