THIS is the shocking moment two paragliders collided in mid-air before plunging into the sea. The terrifying incident, which was captured by spectators on a nearby beach, occurred during an Olympic-style air games festival in Oludeiz, Turkey on Sunday. In a seperate clip, emergency services can later be seen tending to the three gliders who were retrieved from the water and carried away by stretchers. The three pilots involved, named as Çağdaş Türkmen, Kars and Murat Can Sak, were later taken for treatment at a nearby hospital, according to Spuntnik News. Two were said to have stabilised, while the third remains in “serious” condition, the outlet adds. The woman, who was later identified as 28-year-old Ukrainian Maria Protsluk, was immediately spotted by coast guard units on duty and brought to safety, Turkish coast guard said in a written statement. It said the woman was brought to safety and rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition. But tragically a fellow pilot involved died following a tongue related complication upon impact, report Turkish outlet Yenisafak. Some 2,000 paragliders and wingsuit athletes from 60 countries attend the International air games festival annually it is believed. It is not yet known if an investigation has been opened by authorities into the latest incidents.
