Official Position? US Envoy Under Fire for Referring to Pakistan-Administered Kashmir as ‘Azad J&K’

While separate parts of Jammu and Kashmir region are controlled by India and Pakistan, the two neighboring countries dispute each others’ claims. India, for its part, has repeatedly asked Pakistan to “vacate” the territory under its “illegal occupation.” Officially, India refers to the region as ‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
