A DEVASTATED aunt has warned other parents after her two baby nephews suffered horrific burns following a bonfire explosion. Three-year-old Xander and one-year-old Tanner were left with serious burns on their faces, hands and chests after an aerosol exploded on a bonfire. And even though the boys were taught what precautions to take, the accident happened after a cardboard box containing an aerosol was thrown into the flames, Mail Online reports. The explosion knocked the brothers and their mum off their feet with the two boys suffering severe burns. Carli said: “The boys since suffering the injuries have undergone multiple surgeries but Xander has suffered even more serious injuries than this brother. He has first to second degree burns on his upper body and face and both of the children will need more grafting.” The brothers were treated by paramedics who rushed to the scene and were later airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Xander was immediately put on a ventilator and taken to intensive care, while his brother was admitted to undergo treatment. Their heartbroken aunt Carli added: “They are such beautiful country kids who love the outdoors and all things nature and animals. “My heart breaks for them and I know that they are at least a month or two away from being able to go home.” Carli has set up a GoFundme page to raise funds for the family to help with extra costs.
