He went to a police station accompanied by his three children yesterday, according to the report. The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an inquiry for “murder, attack on the integrity of a corpse and concealment of a corpse”. Matoug is said to have reported his wife Assia missing on February 6. But police reportedly questioned allegedly inconsistencies in his account, and believe she was last seen a week earlier on January 31. It comes after the dismembered body parts were found in separate bags on February 13 and 14. Gardeners found the victim’s torso in one plastic bag, according to a source close to the case. It appeared to have been surgically cut from the chest to the knees, according to Le Parisien. The decapitated head and other parts were found the nest day, hidden under foliage. The Buttes-Chaumont park was closed to the public as police searched for evidence. Located in the 19th arrondissement in northeast Paris, it is one of the biggest green spaces inside the Periphique ring road and a popular destination for families and runners.
