TWISTED cannibal murderer Jeffrey Dahmer kept a stomach-churning collection of body parts in his ‘house of horrors’, including a severed head in his freezer and a huge drum full of male torsos. The psycho serial killer filled his cramped apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a number of gruesome trophies, taken from the 17 young men and boys he slaughtered and dismembered throughout his 13-year crime spree. But beyond his sick cannibalistic desires, ‘The Milwaukee Monster’ confessed to his grotesque plans to build a “bone altar” out of the skeletons of his victims. Crude, childlike drawings revealed his rough designs for such an altar, including painted skulls and skeletons arranged around a black table, incense, and a chair arranged in front it for sick rituals. Two entire skeletons were also recovered. Among the other trophies Dahmer kept were several boxes of bones, a freezer containing male genitals, lungs, and intestines, and a human heart that he admitted to police he planned on eating. So many human body parts were found in the apartment, the medical examiner noted at the time, that “it was more like dismantling someone’s museum than an actual crime scene”. In his confession to cops, Dahmer said he found sexual pleasure in the body parts he collected from the victims he found particularly attractive. But when the 18-year-old tried to leave, the killer said he became enraged and struck him with a barbell before strangling him to death. He told police that he murdered his victims because he couldn’t bear to see them leave. Dahmer was quoted in a homicide detective’s report as saying: “It was better to have them with him dead than to have them leave.” He added that his killings stepped up after he was fired from his job and that the corpses “kept him company” while he was home alone. He would drill holes in his skulls and pour acid solution or boiling water onto their brains, hoping that this would render them unable to leave his apartment.
