A BRITISH tourist was rushed to hospital with internal bleeding after a horrific accident on a water ride in Thailand. Callum Ryan, 21, from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, was left coughing up blood following a “dodgy landing” at the Grand Canyon water park in the Thai resort of Chiang Mai. At first, the digital creator said he didn’t realise anything was wrong. But following a three-and-a-half-hour coach journey after the incident, Callum was feeling so unwell that he had to go to the nearest hospital. The next day, he was given an x-ray and told he’d dislocated his ribs and damaged both his lungs. Callum said: “There was a big bouncy cushion at the waterpark that you jump on to and I thought, ‘Let’s give it a go’. “My girlfriend, Beth, went first – there was a five-metre drop to jump on the cushion – she did a backflip into the water from the cushion which propelled her into the air. “I thought I’d do a backflip and I got the two biggest lads to jump on the cushion at the same time.” Most read in News POWER PLAN Liz Truss set to unveil £100bn cost-of-living package in first week as PM WE HAVE A WINNER Liz Truss is Britain’s next Prime Minister with 57% of vote DEATH AT THE DOOR Slashers ‘went door to door’ killing 10 & suspects are STILL on the run GHOST JET Four dead in private-jet crash as Nato fighters track it veering across Europe 'BLOODBATH' Screams heard before twins, 8, ‘hacked to death with machete’ & sister killed 'BITTER & TWISTED' I met Shamima Begum - a chilling text changed my whole opinion of her Callum said the water park workers told him they had never seen anyway get as high as him. “I landed in a dodgy way, flat on my back,” he said. “As soon as I landed in the water, I knew I’d done something wrong.” He added: “I swam up underwater and the second I hit the air, I had a handful of blood. “Straight away within two or three seconds, I coughed up a handful of blood and that went on for 30 minutes.” Callum was forced to travel on the coach alone back to Chiang Mai to go to hospital, which he said was fairly basic, with “pigeons walking around” the ward. However, he said staff were “helpful” and did everything they could. He was given an x-ray to check for internal damage and prescribed painkillers. He added that he doesn’t think he would take the same risk he did at the waterpark again. “But when I am in that environment I get silly,” he said. “I am an adrenaline junkie for that type of stuff.” Read More on The Sun BYE BABY I'm a baby name pro - the names at risk of going extinct CAT'S OUT THE BAG People have learnt where the phrase ‘cats have nine lives’ comes from The Sun Online has approached the Grand Canyon water park for comment.
