A MESSAGE in a bottle has found its way back to its original sender 37 years after it was thrown into the Atlantic ocean. The note, long lost to the sea, finally found its way back to Troy Heller, now 47, after the bottle washed back up on a Florida beach and a couple tracked him down. He penned a note that finished with: “P.S Whoever finds this, call or write to me”, jotted down his details, pushed it into a Pepsi bottle and tossed it into the sea. Almost 40 years later, Annie and Katie Carrmax were walking along a beach in Sebastian, Florida whilst a clean-up effort was taking place. The beach volunteers handed the couple their most exciting find – an old, rusted bottle with a note suspended inside. Miraculously, the bottle was found only 13 miles from the pier that Troy had thrown it from. “We just feel really special that we ran into two wonderful teachers picking trash up after the hurricane,” Katie told local media. Annie added: “For it to be found is pretty wild. I just wanted to know what it said.” The two women then set about trying to locate the mysterious sender, armed with only his childhood address in Kentucky. They were able to locate a man with the same name now living in Mount Washington and contacted him. “As soon as I saw it, I remembered writing it,” Troy exclaimed. Katie and Annie sent the note back to Troy, where it now hangs proudly in a frame next to a picture of him throwing it into the sea all those years ago. “It’s something you never thought would happen. I thought I’d just throw it out in the ocean and just see where it went, you know? “It’s just amazing that it finally found its way back,” Troy said, still stunned that it had stayed intact after all those years. The incredible story was chronicled on Katie and Annie’s joint TikTok account, which quickly went viral as users rushed to share their own stories of long lost items finding their way home. One user commented: “My cousin put a message in a bottle in Maine. It was found on a beach in Ireland 20 years later!” “This right here is the only reason the Internet should be a thing,” said another. “His excitement on the phone when we called was everything,” Katie and Anna wrote back to their followers.
