A TEACHER has been slammed for wearing inappropriate outfits at school – and she doesn’t care what parents think. Buhle Menziwa said she often gets compliments from students and claims no one at school has ever complained about her outfits. lulumenziwaBuhle Menziwa is known to rock up to class in rather suggestive outfits[/caption] lulumenziwaThe South African second-school teacher said her pupils like the way she dresses[/caption] Despite the backlash, Menziwa has not reined in the way she dresseslulumenziwa The South African teacher went viral in 2019 when photos of her dressing in revealing attire circulated online. Menziwa faced a wave of backlash after people claimed she was dressing too skimpy for school. “I felt like I was judged for who I am. When you’re reading some comments I feel like some people are jealous of me and then the men were just lusting – they wish they had a girlfriend like me or they wish they could have a partner like me,” Menziwa said in 2019. And it seems she’s not reigned in her outfits since then with recent Instagram pictures showing second-school teacher posing in tight-fitting jeans while in class. One Twitter user accused Menziwa of teaching “to show off” her body. They wrote: I guess teachers these days in SA think they’re there to show off their bodies as opposed to actual teaching – don’t schools in South Africa have a respectable dress code for their educators to adhere to?” Another quipped: “You’re making it hard for out kids to pass”. Do you have your kid in my school? “You are forgetting one thing that I’m not teaching the kids of your age; I’m not teaching 25, 26 to 40-year-old learners. My kids are younger, they don’t have the perverted mind that you have, so stop.” Menziwa has had to set her social media account to private as a result of the abuse. But that hasn’t stopped her dressing how she likes. “I’m that teacher who comes to work dressed up and [the learners] always come and give me compliments. Some even tell me ‘Ma’am when I grow up I want to be like you’,” she said. South Africa does not have a dress code for teachers and entrusts them to decide what is appropriate. Department spokesperson Elijah Mahlangu said: “Teachers are professionals. They understand fully their role in society and they are reminded that they need to demonstrate the highest professional standards at all times even more so within school premises.
