My eating and exercise habits were the same as always,” she told news.com.au. “I was never told this could happen, only that I’d get a dry mouth and drowsiness. “But after I gained weight, I googled it and saw that many people were going through similar experiences.” Like most antipsychotics, quetiapine therapy is associated with weight gain, because of the alteration of the body’s hormones – something her doctor confirmed. “I was a bit down about it at first, so I asked to go on a different medication to help stop the weight gain, but my mental health really suffered, so I decided to go back on,” she explained. “I’m now on 200mg of seroquel, and have gained about 38kg in total since I started.
