A LOTTERY winner has described the incredible moment he called his friend to let him know they had scooped a whopping £8.6 million jackpot-but his pal thought it was a joke and hung up on him. The staggering lotto prize was claimed by a group of eight golf friends in their 40s in Western Australia. The group of eight friends won £8.6 million They all found out about their big win while having dinner after the ticket holder rang them to tell them the good news. But not everyone had the reaction he was expecting. He told Lotto officials: “I started making calls to the rest of the group to tell them we’d won. “One of the guys didn’t believe me and went back to eating his dinner. “Another group member told me that if it was a prank, he would come over, and I’d be in a lot of trouble.” It took a while for the group to claim the win as they were too busy celebrating, news.com.au reports. The eight friends spent the night discussing what they’ll do with their winnings with most of them choosing to pay off their mortgages and going on holiday. One of them who had been driving the same car since he was on his P-plates, said he couldn’t wait for an upgrade. The group had purchased the ticket through Lotterywest online. Lotterywest chief executive Ralph Addis said in a statement: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome yet another big win for WA, only a few weeks after celebrating a Swan Valley family taking home $40 million in Powerball. “The WA community is also a winner following tonight’s draw, with more than $4.23 million raised thanks to players over the five-week jackpot roll which will contribute to our grants program.” Another woman was left stunned when she realised she had actually won the jackpot and not the £269 she initially thought. A lottery winner who won £7.5 million has told of how he lost it all in a messy divorce. And these three neighbours won a share of £90,000 in an incredible lottery after being handed a golden envelope.
