Sheets – known as The Gambler – was with his son Brandon when they chanced upon the childhood treasures. Once they unlocked the storage facility they found rows of boxes filled with rare toys, and collectibles. The collection, which may have been the inventory of a comic book shop, contained specialty items including GI Joes, Hot Wheel cars as well as 3,000 comic books. Sheets dubbed it the “Holy Grail of toys” as his gamble paid off in spades. At the time of the discovery he said: “OMG look at all these Spawn toys. “These are top of line hard to get McFarlane toys – that’s a 300 dollar toy sitting there. “There are 3000 comic books here all worth about ten bucks. “This locker just goes on and on and on… this is the holy grail of toys.” In total, the toy collection was worth a whopping £73,737 and became one of the biggest finds in the TV show’s history. Social media viewers who watched the episode online were keen to share their amazement with the find. “Oh my god I’d keep them all if I had the chance,” a YouTube user said. “Now this is the locker I would love to come across,” one said. “That’s a hundred dollar bill right there,” another said. “I feel bad for the person whose locker this belongs to… imagine him watching this right now,” a third said. The now 64-year-old Sheets became one of the most popular characters on Storage Wars due to his strong personality and ruthless attitude. In one episode he managed to find a storage unit with £250,000 worth of art inside.
