Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, there has been massive dissemination on social networks of information that is false, manipulated or lacking in context. To address a surge in questions from the public, a team from the Spanish fact-checking organisation Maldita created a WhatsApp chatbot, which uses artificial intelligence to provide automated answers.
