AN ELDERLY British woman has died and her husband is fighting for life after they were mown down as they used a pedestrian crossing in Spain. The couple were hit by a car in Costa del Sol resort Fuengirola just before 5pm on Tuesday. Cops confirmed this evening that the woman, who has not been named, did not survive. An investigation into the horror continues tonight. However, it’s understood the driver ploughed into the expat couple after behind blinded by the low sun. He stopped at the scene and reportedly passed separate drug and alcohol tests. Police have yet to make any official comment about the case. PCs will submit a report to a local investigating magistrate. The official will then decide whether the man should face any criminal charges. The motorist is believed to have been behind the wheel of a VTC – or private hire – vehicle.
