Malaysia’s post-election crisis came to an abrupt end on Thursday, with King Abdullah of Pahang naming Pakatan Harapan opposition coalition leader Anwar Ibrahim prime minister. The appointment was designed to end the political stalemate which emerged after Saturday’s vote, in which no party or bloc got enough votes to form a majority government.
