POLICE are in a tense stand-off with a suspect who allegedly battered a teacher to death he had met on a dating app. Dannielle Finlay-Jones, 31, was found dead with severe head injuries after she went to meet 33-year-old Ashley Gaddie in a pub. He was found in Wentworth Falls area of the mountains and police are currently negotiating with him to give himself up. He reportedly fled a friend of Danielle’s house, where the pair had been staying on Saturday night. She was discovered lying in bed alone with horrific head injuries when the friends checked in on her at 2.30pm. Danielle reportedly spent the night introducing her date to friends at Marsden Brewhouse in Sydney’s west on Saturday. Emergency services were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at the scene. New South Wales Police Chief Inspector John Nelson said police were looking into reports a man was seen running from the property He added that detectives were investigating whether the pair had met online. “The information that we do know is that they’re known to each other, there’s not been an entry or break-enter,” he said. “It’s not a random act.” Gaddie was halfway through a two-year community sentence for stalking, choking and assaulting another woman, the Sydney Morning Herald reports. In the past he has been the subject of five restraining orders all taken out by different women between 2017 and 2022. According to her social media profiles was Danielle a support officer at the NSW Department of Education and was a Director of Female Football at Ramsgate RSL Football Club. Paying tribute, a friend told the Daily Mail Australia she was an “incredible person inside and out”. “She is cherished by everyone who knew her and words cannot describe the shock that this has happened,” she said. “She did not deserve this and will be dearly missed.” Gaddie is believed to have been working as a tradesmen and wrote in a mining Facebook group seeking employment in the oil industry. He previously operated a personal training business from 2012 to 2015, records show. The suspect is described as of Caucasian appearance with blue eyes and a bald head, about 180cm tall, and of a muscular build. Both of his arms are covered with tattoos. A neighbour scene revealed the owner of the murder scene home had only recently moved in but had been holding regular Saturday night parties. “We often him saw holding parties with maybe two or three cars and about 10 people,” said the unnamed neighbour.
