AN ENTIRE mountainous village has hit the market for £1.3 million – but buyers are warned of three big catches. The charming area, located in British Columbia, Canada, features six Swiss-style chalets originally built for guides to help tourists find their way around the stunning peaks. Six chalets are up for grabs in the mega deal Each were used to house Swiss tour guides in the 20th century Sitting across 50 acres of land and nestled within the busy woodlands and rocky hills, the cute abodes could be considered a hikers dream. But for those taking a closer look at the finer details, it becomes clear that there is more than just the one issue. Originally named as the Edelweiss village, the town’s remoteness may appeal to buyers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, but still comes with the same issues that guides and their families faced way back in the early 20th century.  Located over a mile uphill from the nearest town Golden, the nearest town, guides found it incredibly difficult to access amenities. Adding to the problems, the houses were regular cold and draughty in winter and unbearably hot in summer. As it became increasingly difficult to live, the guides slowly moved to the town of Golden, which has left the village void of residents and rendered a “ghost town.” Most read in News DATE 'MURDER' Boyfriend 'knifed lover to death then lay next to body' after meeting online PERV MANSION Adam Johnson sells 8-bed home for £1.75m as his company faces £500k tax bill DEVIL DOG Two rushed to hospital after horror dog attack as armed cops race to the scene FIGHTING BACK Boris Johnson will not quit after Partygate and vows to win next election TRAGIC 'MURDER' Teen 'stabbed to death' weeks after flying to England to be with bf POSTMAN POT Postmen filmed after eating batch of 'hash brownies' sent to sorting office The crumbling chalets remain and are preserved with their original signage as well as intricately carved wooden trim, textured exterior that would not look out of place in the Alps themselves. Yet open the door to just one of these properties and visitors will be greeted with gaudy décor that makes the house look as if it has been frozen in time from the 1970s. One 5,554-square-foot home on sale comes equipped with multiple desks and large windows aimed to frame the scenery outside. In others, walls are decorated from memorabilia from the early days of the mountaineering days with antique family photos, trinkets and furnishings. Described as “a time capsules of yesteryear,” even the kitchen has managed to stay fully intact with dingy brown and mustard patterned flooring, white cabinets and rather grimy wall paper. Estate agents Re/Max Golden say the historic homes all have updated plumbing, heating and electrical components meaning it’s more than up to date with the latest fittings. They adding that the “opportunity is once in a lifetime.” GHOST TOWNS In 2020, The Sun reported that an entire North Welsh village has gone on market for £1million. The village was owned by the family of John Lloyd, owner of Inigo Jones Slate Works, when the quarry was purchased in the 1960s. The family put all of the homes up for sale in April 2016. A year later it was revealed that a Spanish village had also gone under the hammer for a much more affordable sum of  £369k. Totalling less than less the  average cost of a London flat, the area -dubbed the España vacía, or “empty Spain” – was one of more than 3,000 areas in the Galicia region that are said to have dwindling populations.
