The apartment block he plunged from has been named as the Maria Elena building in a street called calle Federico Garcia Lorca. A neighbour at the apartment complex is said to have called emergency services to report a man lying on the ground and bleeding profusely, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reports. The man was believed to have been conscious but had his face and head injured. Local reports describe him as British although police have not yet made any official comment on his nationality. They are understood to be working on the theory he lost his balance while under the effects of alcohol after a night out partying with friends. They believe he may have fallen after trying to jump over a wall separating the street from a patio inside the apartment complex. One island newspaper said he had been in a “critical” condition when he was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma.
