Doctors had expected the dad-of-five to wake up within four to six hours following the emergency surgery but he slipped into a coma. Tragically, he died five weeks later on March 18, reports Manchester Evening News. Jay’s heartbroken girlfriend Naomi was forced to hear the collision after he’d forgotten to hang up the phone moments earlier. He had flown to Thailand for the “trip of a lifetime” and was riding his motorbike with no helmet when he was hit by a truck. His mum Tracey said he was on holiday with Naomi but had been out with some friends for a drink. She added: “He put the phone in his pocket but the call hadn’t ended, so she was saying ‘hello, hello?’. “That was when she heard it.” Jay’s devastated family, who flew out to be by his side, have described him as “fun loving” in an emotional tribute. His mum and dad Dean told MEN: “He was a wonderful dad and son and was loved by everybody. “He was boisterous and a little mischievous and was always the first to turn up the music at a party. “He was always up for a laugh.”
