Brit, 18, killed by an avalanche and another buried while on a ski tour in Switzerland

A BRITISH teenager has died following an avalanche in Switzerland while on a ski tour. The 18-year-old man was found dead after he was swept away by the avalanche in Meiringen, Bern on Tuesday evening. The 18-year-old was reportedly living in Bern. According to reports, cops received a report at 4.25pm on Tuesday that “an avalanche had fallen near the Gstelliwang and two ski tourers had been buried”.  The Gstelliwang is a ski slope on the Wellhorn mountain in the Bernese Alps. It’s understood the 18-year-old and the missing skier had split from the rest of their group when the avalanche hit. The search for the second person was interrupted at around 7.30pm last night and resumed this morning. Swiss Alpine Rescue, helicopters, mountain specialists and cops have joined the search effort.
